FREDDIE MAC YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD

This honor is being presented to Derron Scott of Largo High School, Largo, MD. This award recognizes outstanding leadership by an individual under the age of 21 whose service positively impacts the lives of young people and/or the quality of life in the community.

FANNIE MAE VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The winner of this award will be announced at the event, so attend to see which Leadership Greater Washington member will be honored. This award is presented to an LGW member who has used leadership skills to provide outstanding service in the Greater Washington region.

COMCAST COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AWARD

This year's Community Partnership Award goes to the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and Allied Capital Corporation.  This honor is presented to the partnership of a non-profit organization and a business (for profit) entity for their successful collaboration efforts on a community project of significant impact.

CAFRITZ FOUNDATION FOUNDERS’ AWARD
FOR LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY SERVICE

LGW congratulates Barbara Krumsiek, Class of ‘98 member and President & CEO of Calvert Group on receiving this honor.  This award recognizes an individual, a business or a non-profit entity whose cumulative commitment, values and dedication exemplifies the vision of Leadership Greater Washington’s founders to encourage community service, to value diversity, to promote regionalism and to enhance civic leadership.

WALTER WASHINGTON DISTRICT CHAMPION
AWARD PRESENTED BY CARMEN GROUP

This first time honor, being presented by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, is awarded to Anthony E. Costa, Deputy Commissioner, Public Buildings Services, US General Services Administration.  This award recognizes the outstanding leadership by a federal official whose performance most meaningfully served the people of the District of Columbia and its surrounding areas–which have challenges resulting from its unique federal interface.

2007 LGW Community Service Awards Dinner Recipients:

2007 Freddie Mac Youth Leadership Award:
This Honor was presented to Sandra Quel, an 18 year student at DC's Youthbuild Public Charter School. She was honored for her efforts to give immigrants a voice and for her efforts to educate her peers about HIV/AIDS. Cheryl Clarke, the Director of Foundation Giving at the Freddie Mac Foundation, presented the honor.Introduced in 2002, this award has honored Wilson High School Student & DC Youth Mayor Crystal Williams, Archbishop Carroll High School Student Bryce Jones, Ballou High School's Community Equity Empowerment Program and 14-year-old Roshan Baddeilyanage who raised funds for victims of the 2005 Tsunami.

2007 PNC Bank Leadership & Community Service Award:

This honor was presented to Maxine Baker, a philanthropic community leader whose work with Wednesday's Child and other efforts have had a strong impact on youth, both locally and nationally. M. Craig Pascal, Vice President/Territory Manager, PNC Bank gave the honor.

2007 Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz

Foundation Community Partnership Award: This honor was presented to the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation with the Center for Nonprofit Advancement and the Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington for collaborative efforts to support area nonprofit executive directors in their efforts to positively impact the community. Calvin Cafritz who is Chairman, President & CEO of the Cafritz Foundation, presented this award.Previous honorees: AT&T with the Greater Southeast Healthcare System; Bell Atlantic-Washington with the Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center; Clark Construction/Ruppert Landscape with the Friends of Kennedy Playground and Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2C; the Washington Regional Alcohol Program with GEICO and the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association; Fannie Mae/Fannie Mae Foundation/ Bell Atlantic- Washington, DC with Howard University; the Fishing School with the International Monetary Fund and the National Multi Housing Council; Greater DC Cares with the Washington Business Journal and the Children's Law Center with Piper Rudnick and Youth for Tomorrow with William A. Hazel, Inc and NVR, Inc.; Wednesday's Child with the Freddie Mac Foundation. the Metropolitan Washington Council of Goverments and NBC-4.

2007 Fannie Mae Foundation Volunteer of the Year:

Community leader Michael Rogers recived this honor, announced for the first time during the March 29 event. This honor was presented to him for his excellent volunteer service including Board of Directors of the Council on Court Excellence, Board Chair of the Washington Region for Justice & Inclusion and Board of Chair of LGW. This honor was presented by Stacey Stewart, Senior Vice President for Fannie Mae.Previous honorees: Lyles Carr ('87), Martha Kendrick Kettmer ('89), Linda L. Lee ('93), Philip L.
