Gala Honors Outstanding Community Service
It was a high energy evening on April 2, 2008, when 700 regional leaders gathered to celebrate those who do much for the Greater Washington community. Leadership Greater Washington’s Annual Community Service Awards Dinner & Silent Auction, held at the Mandarin Oriental, provided an elegant backdrop to salute several outstanding individuals and organizations that are committed to improving the lives of others.
LGW members, who are leaders from business, government and nonprofits, along with guests, gathered to network and celebrate the honorees which included Barbara Krumsiek of Calvert Group, Viki Betancourt of the World Bank Group, Derron Scott, Jr. of Largo High School in Largo, Maryland and Anthony E. Costa of the Public Buildings Administration of the GSA. LGW also honored the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) with Allied Capital Corporation.
LGW thanks the many companies and organizations which helped to sponsor the event and to the many individuals who donated to the Silent Auction. The organization also thanks Special Events Chair Donella Brockington of ACS and Resource Development Chair Jeff Schragg of Argy, Wiltse & Robinson for their extraordinary leadership in producing this black-tie event.
