| How do you become a member of LGW? |
Membership in LGW begins with an initial program year, running from September to June, that focuses on regional issues that key decision makers in the community need to know about and be engaged in finding soultions. The curriculum in the 10-month program provides intensive hands-on study and in-depth discussion of regional issues including health, public safety, the arts, affordable housing competitive, leadership, regional economic development, and Inclusiveness & Equity. Participants in the program year are selected through an application process.
Now by going to our home page and clicking on the "Class of 2009 application" button. Applications become available on line December 14, 2007. To have an application sent to you, call LGW at 202-659-5135. Applications for the Class of 2009 are due Monday, March 31, 2008 at 5:00pm.
| How many participants are selected for each class year? |
Between 50 and 55 participants are selected annually to participate in the program.

The program costs $5,500 which covers the cost of two retreats, program transportation, tickets for LGW's fall luncheon and spring awards dinner.
| Is tuition assistance available? |
Tuition assistance is available to those in need; however, no more than $4,000 is available for each individual. LGW has received generous support from The Philip L. Graham Fund, Freddie Mac Corporation as well as many individuals to provide tuition assistance.
| How are participants selected? |
The class is selected based professional experience, seniority in professional role and community involvement; other factors taken into consideration are geographic representation, job sector, ethnicity and gender, to ensure that LGW has a group that accurately represents the region.
